The high-brightness LED market breaks a new record with many players running to the line. According to market research firm Strategies Unlimited, the high brightness LED market has marked a remarkable growth of an average annual rate of 46% since 1995. The market volume of 2004 totaled $3.7 billion.
Mobile handsets, digital cameras and PDAs drive the industry growth by taking up more than 57 percent of the total applications. However, the market saturation is likely to slow down the high brightness LED growth to 10 to 15 percent per year, it forecast.
Nevertheless, the high brightness LED market is still expected to reach $6.8 billion in 2009 with new applications such as illumination, automotive headlamps, and backlights for LCD monitors and TV screens.
